The firm “Dr. Hana Jakesova Clovers and Grass Plant Breeding” bears a legal form of a physical person with it´s seat on the territory of the Czech Republic. The firm was established in the year 2003. At the disposal there are our own fields and field machinery.

In the year 2010 a variety of collonial bentgrass (Agrostis capillaris L.) was recognized under the brand name  „Venca“. In the same year the firm put to the state trials another two genotypes. The first one was a meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.), the second genotype was a biological material gained via interspecific crossing between red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) and zigzag clover (Trifolium medium L.).

The two genotypes mentioned above were recognized as varieties by the decision of the state authority in the year 2013. As to the hybrid variety, the intellectual property rights are shared with the VÚP Troubsko, the Czech Republic  and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Masaryk University Brno, the Czech Republic.

We Offer a Licensed Multiplication of Our Varieties:

1) Agrostis capillaris L. – variety of collonial bentgrass “Venca”

Venca is a tetraploid lawn variety.

The growth habitus in  autumn in the year of sowing is medium. The colour of the leaves is dark green. The period of vaulting is medium. Tenuity of the lawn is high.

Venca can well serve a component in mixtures intended for establishment of tenuous amenity lawns and can be used for also other lawn establishments.

2) Festuca pratensis Huds. – variety of meadow fescue „Pastorela”

Pastorela is a diploid variety intended for grazing.

The growth habitus during vaulting is medium. The period of vaulting is medium to late. The speed of the growth in spring is medium high to high. The density of overgrow following cuts is medium high to high.

The green matter gain in the course of all years of use is medium high. The dry matter gain in the first and in the second year of use is medium high and in the third year is high.

The green matter gain obtained from the first cut during the first and second year of use is low and is medium high in the third year .

The dry matter gain obtained from the first cut during the first and third year of use is medium high, in the second year of use is low.

Pastorela is intended a valuable fodder species. It can be used for shorter term grass and clover/grass mixtures as well as a compound in permanent pastures.

3) Trifolium medium x Trifolium pratense — interspecific clover hybrid variety „Pramedi”

Variety Pramedi was bred on the basis of the interspecific crossing between the plants of red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) cv. Tatra (2n = 4x = 28) and zigzag clover (T. medium L.) (2n = 8x = 64).

Pramedi is intended a forage crop or it can be used in mixtures with grasses for direct feeding or for conservation. Another use of such mixtures might be establishment or renewal of permanent pastures.

According to available information there has not been a variety of this type gained either in Europe or in the rest of the World. The variety is an entirely original accomplishment.

New Varieties: In 2017 New Clover Varieties Were Recognized of T. medium L. cv “Ruza” and T. ambiguum M. BIEB cv. “Kozak” (6n).
